Same question I had....
I went with the FT-530. It just has too may features I could not
resist. One of the things I was looking at is what the Sr. Ham's were
buying (Those who have had two, three, four, or more HT's) There's a
joke about all the Ft-530 owners starting there own net, due to the fact
there are so many in use.

Hi All,
I am looking for information on the HTX-202. I need a
modification on how to eliminate the LONG TX hang time when I transmit
touch tones. I can not use the auto-patch on any repeaters in my area do
to this LONG TRANSMITTER hang time.
If anyone has any info on how to defeat this feature please E-Mail me at
TJA@Panix.Com
Thank you in advance.

I have the Heathkit 232, which is the kit version of AEA's PK 232.
I use paKet 5.1 and have found it really user friendly and very compatable
with the 232....good luck!

There was a message on packet that said they'd be on the air at noon
on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7232,7240,14300,14342, and 21417.
This information was apparently garnered by someone listening to the
Baja Maritime Net. The calls to be used are KB6YYL/MM2 or W6PW/MM2,
according to the same message. I'll call the office tomorrow and see
if they have anything more solid.

Monday the SS Jeremiah O'Brien left San Francisco for Normandy for the
festivities being held June 6 to comemorate the 25th anniversary of the
Normandy invasion. This is the last operating Liberty Ship, and is crewed
by volunteers. Does anybody know if they have an amateur operation? Any
info about call signs, skeds, etc. would be appreciated.

Subject: Update to Storm Spotting Freq List
To: info-hams@ucsd.edu
I've completed the latest round of revisions to the frequency lists
and Chris Novy has posted the updated lists at the usual source.
1) Storm Spotting Frequencies: SPOTFREQ.DOC
Ham radio and Civil Defense frequencies which have carried useful info
during severe weather are listed, primarily in the 2m band. The list
focuses on the Plains States where most of the mobile spotting is done.
The area is roughly within a line from E. Wyoming to Indiana to
Alabama to SW Texas to Wyoming.
2) TV radar info: CHASE-TV.DOC
VHF TV stations and UHF repeaters are listed, along with comments
about radar and weather warning display capabilities (where known).
The Plains States are covered. The area is roughly within a line from
E. Wyoming to Indiana to Alabama to SW Texas to E. Wyoming.
The lists are available via ftp:
ftp vmd.cso.uiuc.edu

A recent IP number for vmd.cso.uiuc.edu: 128.174.5.98
University of Oklahoma users can obtain a copy via metgem or
geohub at users:[kbrews]spotfreq.doc and chase-tv.doc.
